Black History at Duke Health

Intercom The primary news publication of Duke Medicine from 1953-1986, the Intercom featured campus events, staff news, and articles about major innovations and concerns at Duke and more generally in the health profession. Some issues include information about African American students and employees. Issues from the 1950s and 1960s have a "Staff of the Week" feature which often highlighted an African American employee. The first 25 years of this publication have been digitized and may be viewed at DigitalNC.

Perspectives The major Duke Medicine promotional publication from 1994-2000. Includes feature articles as well as news briefs. Some issues contain retrospective pieces about African Americans at Duke Medicine and pieces on contemporary efforts to promote diversity.

The Aesculapian The School of Medicine yearbook. Some copies include images of African American students and employees. 

DukeMed Magazine Publication about the Medical Center intended for the Duke Medicine community. Some issues contain historical pieces about African Americans at Duke Medicine and pieces on African American students, faculty, and staff. Issues from 2002-2011 may be viewed at MEDSpace.

DukeMed Alumni News The primary publication for School of Medicine alumni. Some issues contain historical pieces about African Americans at Duke Medicine as well as features on African American alumni and faculty. Issues from 2001-2014 may be viewed at MEDSpace.
