The 2nd edition of this booklet was written by E. Christine Davis, a graduate botany student at Duke, and was published by the Medical Center Library & Archives in 2002. It features woodcuts from the 1597 and 1636 editions of Gerarde's Herball, which is available in the History of Medicine Collections, David M. Rubenstein Library. The publication was supported by the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation, Inc. and the Trent Associates.
