GME Orientation

Orientation to the Medical Center Library & Archives for new interns, residents, and fellows.

Follow these steps to download the following apps

In order to successfully access these mobile apps, you must first follow these instructions closely. Access to these resources begins on your first day of orientation. Most apps require you to first create an account and you must use the Duke-specific links provided below so that the resource recognizes you as a Duke affiliate. It is easiest to complete these steps on a laptop or computer first; then, you may download the app and log in with the account information you just created. 

UpToDate: 

  • Click on the UpToDate link below.
  • In UpToDate, create a personal account using the Register link (upper right hand corner).
  • Download the app in App Store / Play.
  • Log in to the app with the username/password you just created.
  • Note: you may need to let any existing UpToDate subscription lapse prior to creating a new account.

DynaMed: 

  • Click the DynaMed link below.
  • In DynaMed, click on the “Sign In” link, in the upper right hand corner. Then, click “Register Now” to create your account. 
  • Download the app from App Store / Play. 
  • Log in to the app with the username/password you just created. 

Johns Hopkins ABX Guide:

  • Click on the Johns Hopkins ABX Guide link below.
  • Click Mobile in the black toolbar.
  • Click Log In.
  • Next, click Register for an Account.
  • Download the UCentral app from the App Store / Play (the ABX guide is hosted on the UCentral platform; do not download the Johns Hopkins ABX guide).
  • Log in to the UCentral app with the with the username/password you just created.

Lexidrug:

  • Click the Lexidryg link below.
  • Click the Mobile Access Codes button; you will be prompted to select your device type and to indicate if you are a new or existing customer.
  • On the ensuing screen, follow the step by step instructions carefully. Be sure to make note of the red authorization code (copy it).
  • Download the app from the App Store / Play.
  • Log in with the username/password and password you just created.
  • In the app, click on Library to download the specific Lexidrug databases you need.
  • Note: the authorization code changes annually in late August. As such, we recommend waiting until September 1st if this is your first time using the app. You will have to repeat these steps each August to obtain the new authorization codes. 

Micromedex
Note: you must be on the Duke wifi or on the VPN to set up the account.

  •  While on the VPN or Duke wifi, click on the Micromedex link below.
  • In Micromedex, click the Download Mobile Apps button, located in the bottom right hand corner for the instructions and the code. 
  • Download the app from the App Store / Play.
  • Open the app and enter the code. 

VisualDx:

  • Click the VisualDx link below.
  • In VisualDx, scroll past the tiles and click on "Create a Personal Account." 
  • Download the app from App Store / Play. 
  • Log in to the app with the username/password you just created.
