Data Sharing and Public Access Policies

Office of Science and Technology Policy Requirements

In 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy issued a memorandum "Increasing Access to the Results of Federally Funded Scientific Research" to federal departments and agencies with budgets of research funding over $100 million to develop policies for sharing scientific data and publications that are the result of that research. Agencies began release their policies on data sharing and public access to scientific publication in 2014 and 2015.

This site provides basic information about these policies that might impact researchers at Duke and links to the plans and policy statements that provide more details. These policies continue to evolve, and the DUMC library makes every effort to update this guide to reflect current requirements. The most recent update was conducted during December 2016.
