Create or access a F1000 Workspace account at Duke University. F1000 Workspace is a web-based program, which means that your account can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection.

F1000 Workspace is a web-based reference management program for use on desktop computers and mobile devices, a desktop-based program, is one of the most sophisticated reference management tools available.  F1000 Workspace is most useful for:

Organizing references

  • Find and eliminate duplicate references

  • Create shared or private Projects to organize your references

PDF management

  • Automatically creates references from PDFs stored on your computer using the F1000 desktop app or by creating a watch folder, a folder on your computer where all stored pdfs are automatically uploaded to F1000 Workspace 

  • Find Full Text feature searches online for full text of references in your library

  • Annotate PDFs

Inserting citations into documents and creating bibliographies

  • Insert citations into Microsoft Word, Google documents, or the iOS app Manuscripts

  • "Shared manuscripts" feature accommodates multiple simultaneous authors of MS Word documents with rigorous version control

  • Bibliography automatically created when you insert citations into documents
