Requires app, Bluetooth 4.0+, iOS 7+, Android 4.3+ devices.  Compatible BLE enabled devices: Apple Watch, iPhone 4S+, iPad 3rd Generation+ , and iPod touch.

Estimote Proximity Beacons are designed to attach to fixed points in a venue, and provide an app with location context. Mobile apps with beacon support can then detect the smartphone coming in and out of range of a beacon, and act on that information.
Loan Policy:  

Device may be checked out by Duke Health & Duke University patrons
for two weeks. Loan can be renewed two times if no other requests
are pending. Extended loans may be available on a case-by-case basis.
Evaluation Plan:  

Researchers who borrow devices will be asked to complete evaluations to
identify the strengths, weakness, and value of the Device Library.

These three short evaluations are related to:

  1. the researcher-generated questions submitted before borrowing the device
  2. the borrowing experience and impact
  3. the long-range impact (sent 6 months after device return)
