Research Wednesdays Series
Tthe Research Wednesdays Series is held monthly from noon-1pm in the Medical Center Library, Conference Room 212c. [See map]
Our goal is to provide a presentation and discussion platform for explorations of new and old ways of supporting and disseminating research. Researchers, librarians, and research support service providers can come together to better understand research needs, activities, services, and solutions.

Jan 18th Digital Futures Task Force & the Perkins Library Data Group (Joel Herndon & Paolo Mangiafico) SLIDES
- Paolo & Joel will discuss developments in research data management at Duke including an overview of the provost-appointed DFTF committee's recommendations for how to improve support for research data management, sharing and archiving at Duke.
Feb 15th Data Management Overview (Denise Snyder) SLIDES
- Denise will discuss data as it relates to small-to-medium size investigator initiated studies, policies, and how to manage data, including a brief overview of services and groups available to support research at Duke.
Mar 28th Day in the Life of a Researcher (Dr. David Brass SLIDES & Dr. Richard Moon SLIDES)
- Presenters will describe their research, a typical day, how their work has evolved, and some of the challenges and achievements they have experienced.
Apr 18th A Look at IRB (Jody Power) SLIDES
- Jody will present a brief background on the IRB’s responsibilities, structure, and scope; the process for submission and review of new studies, amendments, renewals and safety events; and will wrap up by discussing developments in eIRB.
May 16th Introduction to Research Management Team Services & REDCap (Denise Snyder & Cory Ennis) SLIDES
- Denise Snyder, Director of Clinical Research Operations, will discuss the services offered by the Research Management Team and how researchers can use them. Cory Ennis, Senior IT Analyst with DTMI, will introduce REDCap, a secure application for producing and administering web-based surveys and databases.

- In collaboration with the Clinical Research Support Office, Research Wednesdays will be expanding to twice a month, will vary in location, and will offer CEUs! We are currently finalizing the schedule & will post the 2012-2013 schedule as soon as possible!
