Hours & Location

Duke University Medical Center LibraryWe're located in the Mudd building (next to the hospital & TSCHE).

Our hours are...24 hrs with Duke Med badge access - seven days a week!

The Library is restricted to Duke Med IDs after 6pm M-F and all day on weekends (security guard is on duty & there is a self checkout station for materials).

Maps and Directions

Monday - Friday 8-5
Free parking is almost impossible Monday - Friday 8-5. It's usually best to park at one of the patient parking decks and pay the hourly rate.

After Hours and Weekends (Night Parking)

The Research Drive Parking Garage is the closest lot to the Library and should open with your Duke ID. Free parking is available weekdays after 5 PM & all weekend on many campus lots with a Night Parking pass. Students & faculty can get more info & apply for a pass here.

Other Services

Group & Individual Study Spaces
There are numerous carrels, pods, and rooms for individual or group study around the library on a first come, first served basis.

Group study rooms are available for booking on Levels 1 and 3 of the Library. These rooms are equipped with large monitors and whiteboards and can seat 4-8 people. 

Level 1: Rooms 102A and 102B
Level 3: Rooms 315, 316, 319, and 320

Also, student groups can reserve a conference room for study/meetings after 5 PM on weekdays. Call (919) 660-1150 to reserve.

Computers & Other Equipment Available: 

  • computers (which require DHE login)
  • large flat computer screens on wheels (great for group study)
  • PIN Stations
  • wireless internet access
  • a nice large, easy-to-use scanner on the 2nd level
  • e-Print for PA Students
  • photocopier/scanner on Levels 2 & 3

Note: Feel free to bring food & drink.  Also, it can be chilly in the Library!  Be prepared.
